Dr. Terry Scheid has practiced optometry in Merrick since 1981. He is also an Associate Clinical Professor at SUNY Optometry in Manhattan where he teaches contact lens fitting and evaluation to optometric students.

Dr. Scheid has over 20 optometric publications and has published a clinical textbook ("Clinical Manual of Specialized Contact Lens Prescribing", Sept 2001, Butterworth-Heinemann). He is an AOA member, a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry (FAAO), and a Diplomate in the Cornea and Contact Lens Section of the American Academy (one of less than 300 worldwide). He was President of the New York Academy 2001-2003 and is a member of the Association of Optometric Contact Lens Educators (AOCLE) and a Fellow of the International Association of Contact Lens Educators (FIACLE).

Dr. Scheid was President of the Islip Lions Club 2004-2006 and Vision Chairman of the Suffolk County Lions 2004-2006.
